DOMINIQUE SURH, principal

Dominique Surh earned her Ph.D. in the History of Art from the University of Virginia and has published and lectured in the fields of Italian Renaissance and Dutch Baroque Art.  She began her career teaching art history at Fordham University’s Study Abroad Program in Orvieto (Italy), and later worked for private dealers in the art market in New York.  Subsequently, and for over twelve years, she served as Curator and Research Director of The Leiden Collection, a private Old Master collection of seventeenth-century Dutch painting based in New York.  There, she co-organized the collection’s first international exhibitions, “Gerrit Dou: The Leiden Collection from New York” (Museum de Lakenhal, Leiden, 2014) and “Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection. The Age of Rembrandt” (Louvre, Paris, 2017). Surh also helped launched the publication of The Leiden Collection’s scholarly, on-line collection catalogue as a contributing author and organizer.  Currently, she serves on the board of the American Friends of the Mauritshuis and is co-organizing a major international loan exhibition surveying the subject of Big Cats in art from the Renaissance to the present.
